For the second time now, I've just finished editing a chapter of Dress Like A Man where no pickups were needed! Seems lame, maybe, but I've got to celebrate the small victories here.
It's a guide that will lend very well to an audiobook I think. There's a lot of technical information in the text, and readers, (I think), will see a real benefit to having it read TO them. I'm working very hard to put some life into these words, and I hope people will get a lot out of this. Not just for guys who are working at "dressing for the money they want," but for women too, who want to see their guy's look elevated.
There's an excitement about getting this book to market, but I really want to give it the care it deserves. A lot of long days and nights editing. But I like the way it's turning out so far.
Incidentally, there's a lot of companion graphics on the author's website: www.RealMenRealStyle.com that will help you with a lot of the concepts we're talking about it the book. If you need the password ... I guess you'll just have to wait for the audiobook to come out. Hey, I'm working on it!

I've been getting into voice acting for the past few years. Working in radio, I've always had to use my voice in interesting ways. So, (despite much advice to the contrary), I've decided to venture into the world of audiobooks. The wisdom being that the massive amount of work comes in the form of editing. I edit audio all day, every day. The hope is that I'll be able to zip through this like it ain't no thang.
Except, I'm currently without my beloved Pro Tools. Not to get into Audition-bashing, but despite having used Audition, (and formerly Cool Edit), a lot longer than Pro Tools, I'm simply not as speedy on Audition as I am on Pro Tools.
But, these are troubled times, and I shall work with what I have. The noise is a factor. As sound-proof as I try to make my bedroom, a car driving by, or me knocking the table with my hand, (I'm a hand talker), can cause a blown take.
And the flubs ... the flubs, flubs, flubs, FLUBS, (to be read like Boris Karloff in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas).
So my process now, is to make markers on the timeline of "All These Things That I Have Flubbed," and title the marker with the page number of the manuscript containing the line I have flubbed. On the manuscript, I highlight the line that needs a pick up. My editing hat and voicing hat don't fit very well when I try to wear them both at the same time. So, I hope to take some time tomorrow night and record a bunch of pick ups all at once.
And then, take a break to blog about it. The only reason why I'm blogging about this, is because Amazon assures me that me blogging about doing an audiobook will increase audiobook sales.
Although, I can't imagine for the life of me who will voluntarily read this.
